In 1972, the Kansas City Civic Orchestra started an endowment fund to provide scholarships to students at the UMKC Conservatory of Music. Each year, students pursuing a degree in music can apply for this scholarship to further their education.
This year Zoe Meins (right), who is pursuing a bachelor of music in performance on the trumpet, and Jaden Jarmen, who is pursuing a bachelor of music in performance on the string bass, are the recipients. This endowment, along with other outreach activities provided by the orchestra, strengthens our relationship with the community.
